Among the many distinctive projects created in our print shop, we had the pleasure of producing embossed business cards on multilayer cardstock for ASHANTI.
The first step was selecting the cardstock – a 600 gsm multilayer board, produced in-house by manually bonding two 330 gsm matte black sheets. The result is a thick yet well-balanced cardstock, offering the perfect harmony between quality and refined taste.
After finalising the artwork together with the client, we moved on to the complex production stages. The contact details were embossed using white ink, while the logo – on both front and back – was printed with pearlescent ink and finished with selective spot UV varnish.
Embossing involves raising the selected elements above the surface of the cardstock, while spot UV varnishing means applying a special transparent varnish only on designated elements. This finishing is considered a luxury technique due to the strong visual contrast it creates.
The business card gains a premium, elegant appearance, while the inks used are extremely durable and resistant to scratching or abrasion. The raised elements complete a refined set of finishes, offering both visual and tactile contrast.
